Biography

When you are a budding artist, working through the kinks, and struggling through the passionate hours of creativity, inside is a burning fire of determination. As times rolls on and your talent is noticed, you start to wonder if this hobby could lead to a bigger world outside of your dreams. As you think and dream, you come to a fork in the road where you must demand an answer from yourself. Should you stand here and dream, or move forward to turn your dreams in to a reality?

Like all talented people, artist Sean Henry had those same moments. As a young boy, he had a budding talent for drawing that consumed his free time. As a youth, art was his favorite class period during the school day. Sean was inspired by the vivid Marvel comic images; the X-Men series in particular. He would recreate scenes featuring his favorite character Gambit from the series. Encouraged by friends and family, he decided to attend Delcastle Technical High School, where his artistic interests would be catered to. Here he made his first bold move that would serve him well in the ensuing years.

After graduating from Delcastle in 2003, Sean decided to follow his heart and passion. He went on to further his education at the Delaware College of Art and Design in Wilmington, DE. Once enrolled, Sean majored in illustration and received his Associate’s degree. Feeling up to the challenge, he decided to continue his educational journey by enrolling at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He was soon met with new challenges, but in the midst of them all, he found his style through the medium of watercolors. It was at that moment his confidence started to rise, and his artistic constitution started to take shape. Also at the University, he met his professor and mentor, Zina Saunders. With her sage advice and patience, she helped to make the journey for Sean at UArts a successful one. He went on to graduate from The University of the Arts with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts.
